Vietnam’s healthcare system combines Eastern and Western medical aspects. The Vietnamese government is currently working on establishing a comprehensive health-care program that will provide basic medical services for all citizens.

At present, most Vietnamese citizens in both private and public hospitals have to pay for the medical services themselves. Vietnamese citizens often prefer to use private hospitals, because they are typically better equipped.

Expats must take out private health insurance before they are on their way to Vietnam. It will protect them at private healthcare institutions for treatment.
